Naomie Peasley
IAC Technical Assistant - Washington State, Intertribal Agriculture Coalition
Naomie is a Colville Confederated Tribal member from the Sinixt Band. Her youth was spent on her family ranch raising bucking horses and cattle in Omak, Washington. She graduated high school and attended college, earning her Associate’s Degree at Wenatchee Valley College and a Bachelor’s Degree from Lewis Clark State College. She returned home to work in Education and soon bought her own farm where her and her two daughters still call home. Prior to IAC, she managed the Okanogan County Fairgrounds and coordinated farm and animal relief efforts during major fires that plagued her area. During these incidents, she discovered her passion for helping farmers and ranchers. She realized the importance of educating and putting “boots to the ground” during times of need in order to promote recovery and sustainability.
She hopes to use her years of educational experience in her position at IAC to help others navigate the world of paperwork, technology, politics and deadlines so they can create food sovereignty and sustenance among their own tribal communities throughout Washington State.
