Food Hub Training Series
Montana local food producers and business entrepreneurs interested in community food hub start-ups are invited to participate in a free online Food Hub training workshop on Thursdays from 10 – 11 a.m. on December 5th, 12th, and 19th and January 9th, 2024-2025. Please visit https://www.hopamountain.org/localfood-for-local-families for information on how to join this four-part training series offering education and discussion about what a food hub is, various potential business structures, available software for networking local food producers, and an opportunity to hear from a panel of existing successful Montana food hub businesses.
Grassroots community food hub enterprises support Montana farmers, ranchers and value-add producers while helping ignite community economic development. Carrie Stokes, General Manager of the Yellowstone Valley Food Hub in Billings says, “Our mission is to promote and distribute local agricultural products for the benefit of producers and the community. As a hub for farmers, ranchers, bakers, and makers, we connect retail consumers and wholesale buyers with fresh, local food year-round and are looking to expand our capacity for aggregation, storage, and value-added processing to grow markets across the Yellowstone Valley watershed and build infrastructure to move local products throughout Central and Eastern Montana, as well as Northern Wyoming—revitalizing our regional agricultural economy.”
The Food Hub training program is offered by Hopa Mountain in partnership with Mission West Community Development Partners, Local Food Marketplace and others. For additional information please call Hopa Mountain’s main office at 406-586-2455 or email Ali at ali@hopamountain.org.
